Hello,

I have a good friend of mine who I play world of warcraft with but he gets awful FPS on his ancient desktop. He does not have any spare cash to build a new one so I thought I would give him my old 9800 GT 512mb for his dell. But im not sure the PSU will be able to handle it.

The PSU is a 310 Watt Dell PSU. Im not sure the exact specs but it does obviously have a PCI-E expansion slot as well as an ancient P4 processor.

I've had a Dimension 5150, not sure how close the specs are but it barely handled a 7900GT. Not sure if it'll handle a 8800/9800.

Probably has a generic PSU that maxes out around 310w as well. I would say no. But tell him to replace that PSU with a quality 50 dollar PSU around 400-450w and he should be fine. Since hes getting a free card.

Then there is the cpu holding back the card, but still should be a huge improvement.

I got an old Enermax 500 Watt PSU i'll just throw that in there. Whats the best CPU i can get for an LGA 775 board?

Depends if the mobo can support a newer processor or not. I suggest a cheap ish pentium dual core.
