Ok guys parts just came in 2x 512 gskills ram ad dfi ultra-d mobo, question is can i use the second slot for my 6800gt? cuz if i use the first one its way too close to my xp-120 and its covering the chip set fan, do i have to set any jumpers? and using the secondary pci-e would create any problem?

no, if you want to run your PCI-E card at 16x you'll have to use the top slot - the 2nd PCI-E is only 8x or 4x i cant remmber. i know what you mean - my 7800gtx is way too close to the big typhoon and all they are dooing is heating each other up.

That really stinks, now I have to get a new board.

It's not too close, no. Just very close, so they get a little hotter.

I never actually knew that the second slot only had an 8x bandwidth. I was always just too lazy to move it once I noticed how close they were.

Uhh on the Ultra-D the seond pci-e has like x2 bandwith, your thinking of the SLI-DR where in SLI mode the second slot has x8 bandwidth.

I think you can use the second fine. They have a shared 16x band.
You could try it if you want to. It will not damage anything.
Most people just use the first one, but I seen somewhere were the second one will work at 16x, but I have never tried it.
Ok go with Mr Mumbles
