It really depends on the resolution, I doubt you will really notice a difference.

Try it though! What do you have to loose?
i used to use a 19hp monitor with the vga cable at 720p i really didnt notice a difference. this was on call of duty 4

you compared it directly to the HDMI? You should notice a pretty major difference especially if you're only using yellow vga.
The VGA will NOT give you 720p. CoD4 is only 600p anyway, but regardless, vga won't do it.

yea my monitor is 1080p and its 1920x1080, when i switched from VGA to DVI for my computer i noticed a pretty large difference, so i'm going to give it a try

EDIT* got it for $11.66 shipped off ebay (brand new)....that's a steal

Funny thing my vga cable can do 1080p.

I did notice a difference between hdmi and vga for the better. If you have a chance to play through hdmi take it. I found it to be more crisp.

What is yellow vga?

I play at 1440x900 through the xbox vga cable and honestly it looks just as good as it does on my mums 19" running 720p through hdmi.

I think what he means is the RCA Yellow video connection which does 480i. Normal Blue VGA goes up pretty far (I've been up to 2560x1600 on my CRT).

HDMI has support up to 8 channel audio & 1080p +++ (up to 2160p for Type B) Honestly Component what I get because I'm grew up with analog and still has support for 480i to 1080p which is pretty good for everyones needs (It's also cheaper)

But back to the VGA cable it should support 1080p. I believe VGA on 360 only does 720p though?

The VGA cable can do 1080p and you'll see no appreciable difference between using it and an HDMI. This has been answered to death and there are even comparisons (if you google it) saying the same thing.

If you have an HDMI capable XBOX then use a HDMI cable for the best picture. If you have an older XBOX then use a VGA cable for the best picture.

Still, I'm going to say the edge goes to the VGA cable because it allows you to connect your XBOX to your audio system or headphones with an optical (TOSLINK) cable where the HDMI connecor offers no such feature. So VGA= best picture and audio.

The post above should tell you all that you need to know. Whilst there might be a very small difference with using HDMI, it's so minimal you shouldn't worry.

Using a standard D-SUB connection should be fine in almost every case.

to everyone telling me the VGA does 1080p, i know that already, i'm currently running my xbox at 1080p...the only reason i think i'll see a decent difference is because when i switched my PC from VGA to DVI, it was quite a bit different...MUCH better picture quality
We're talking the XBOX 360 here not a PC. The answer stands, you're not going to see much of a difference if any at all.

Also, we're not telling you that VGA can do 1080P we are correcting those who have said it cannot.
Funny thing, I noticed a difference when I used a 360 on a 19" monitor.
if you have a widescreen tv, yes noticeably. If I was to put my A/V cables back into my 40" 1080p, I wouldn't be able to play, the picture is just too stretched, the HDMI cables fix that
but if you are using a smaller monitor, i think its not that important. Depends on what you want really.

The question was is there a difference between VGA and HDMI not HDMI and component cables.

This is composite, NOT yellow VGA. It displays 480i

This is VGA. It is perfectly capable of displaying HD.
