Ive had a visiontek 4850 for a few years now. Its the original model based on the reference design and the drivers recognize it as built by ATI. Instead of buying a new 5 series card I picked up another used visiontek 4850 off ebay for crossfire.

This new card is a few inches shorter and has a dual slot cooler that is much louder. The drivers recognize this as powered by ATI.

I want to flash a different bios on the card but am not sure if its compatible with the reference design bios. does anyone know?

Thanks

Edit the current bios using Radeon Bios Editor and then flash it yourself so you know you won't brick the card.

I'm no expert, but if it is not the correct bios you should be able to flash it back to the original.

I've had bad flashes before, and I just boot up with my onboard and flash it back.

In your case, you could use the other 4850.
