Hey guys,

I got DiRT 3 from AMD with my 6870 2GB, and I downloaded and installed it on steam just fine, but when ever I launch the game, the "Preparing to launch..." window shows up, disappears, and the steam update window shows up as if I just exited the game, and the game never shows/showed up. I haven't tried a re-install/re-download yet.... In the process right now, if this doesn't work, what should I do? Contacted steam over a week ago, and still no response.

Yeah, Steam support is horribly slow, so in more cases than one unless it's an account security issue, I wouldn't bother contacting them. Before you uninstalled and reinstalled, I would have recommended verifying the integrity of the game, but if an uninstall / reinstall doesn't work, let us know.

Right click the game in Steam, Properties, Local Files and then click "Verify integrity of game cache".

If verifying local cache does not work:

- exit Steam
- go to Steam folder and delete appupdatestats.blob and clientregistry.blob
- restart Steam

Got it fixed, the uninstall/reinstall, once finished, worked, thanks guys.
