I've just gotten a GTX560TI Hawk (TwinFrozr III) and I'm fairly disappointed, but it could just be bad expectations.

I had a GTX460 Cyclone 768MB which was honestly fantastic. Cheap, small, ran BF2 with 8xAA at over 45fps average... amazing.

I discerned a little improvements with the 560 but nothing drastic, which is ok. However while the 460 overclocked like a champ, going from 950 to 980Mhz on the core with the 560 makes it crash. 30Mhz more...

Did I get a bad one? What scores are you getting with your Hawks?

From a 460, your next step should have been a 570.

And since the only difference between your 460 768 and the 560 is really.

a. Stock Clocks. 560 ti has it higher
b. More ram, of course. 768 to 1GB
c. The 560 TI has just 48 more shaders than the GTX 460.

At same clocks, not counting the RAM, a 460 and 560 should perform similar, 5% similar.

If I were you, I'd return the 560, swap it for a 570, or get another 460 768 and SLI.

Aye I have a TI, sorry I forgot to specify. With the latest drivers.

I considered the 570 but they run over 300 euros here, the Hawk was 200 euros. I'm just not ready to pay this much for a graphics card in fact.

I can't SLI with my mobo and with BF3 coming out I'd be better off with something else... I'll consider a 6950 Hawk which is 50 euros cheaper than a GTX570. This should do the trick, hopefully.

I guess I was just hoping for a little overclocking headroom

Return the 560. Get the 570. I wouldn't even begin to consider a 6950 for a "new game".

Just raise the Vcore to 1.1 and raise the Core to 1000mhz !
You'll have the same performance as a gtx 570

i just bought the saphire 6950 from my gtx460. the 460 is honestly the top round card for the entry level gamer. anyone trying to upgrade should go immeadiatly for a 570 ora 6970. since icant afford either i jsut got a 6950 for 250 bucks and unlocked it to stock 6970 performance.

That's the part I'm worried about, I counted on the Hawk to OC properly but I can't even get an extra 30Mhz without it crashing on me when playing BC2.

I wouldn't mind a 570 but they cost over 300 euros, which is 100 more than the Hawk which is supposedly able to more or less reach these levels without trouble. So why can't mine?

Pott did you raise the voltages, if at all?

Also do not compare a 560 to a 460 interms of how many MHZ you can oc. A 460 overclocks ALOT from 675mhz all the way to 950. Mneawhile a 560 from 822 to 1000. Sure 1000 sounds terrific, but % wise its nothing compared to a 460. Also the msi is @ 950mhz stock so its almost running at full frequency. Be happy with your purchase, as you will need the extra mem and extra SPs and clocks later.
Or sell/return it and get a 570/6970.

The 560ti also has higher memory bandwidth. As well as some other small differences.

6950 isn't faster than a 560ti at 975Mhz though.

Coming from an Overclocked 460, the 560TI isn't really that much an "upgrade".
