I hope this is the right forum for this, if not I apologize

So I recently went on a search for a new firmware for my aging DIR-615 c1, wanted something that didnt feel too bloated and have a bunch of stuff I didnt need like DD-WRT. I came upon the lovely OpenWRT and the default install was nice but missing a few things and didnt have enough space to install things separately (that tiny 4mb). I whipped open VirtualBox and Ubuntu to compile a build which is simple with the features I wanted and here I am to share it with you. I didnt do anything crazy but take the time to actually do it and figure out how to get what i wanted in the 4mb i had to work with (this took hours -_-)

My build has

Basic OpenWRT Router Functions
UPNP/Nat-PMP
SQM QOS
LUCI
Removed debugging, core dump, and shadow password*
Removed Package manager*
tweaked busybox*

* had to tweak/remove in order to fit QOS and UPNP/Nat-PMP

Should be most everything the average home user needs, and it definitely improved my old DIR 615. One thing this drastically improved was reducing the amount of Bufferbloat due to the use of SQM QoS, and of course adding Nat-PMP. This build is just about at the very edge of what will fit on this device.

@Echoa ,

Much thanks for your work in building this! I just installed it on my dir-615 c1 and it works great. New things to play with and learn about. You should upload it to the openWRT dir-615 wiki page.

Thanks again.
