I am looking for a DLP TV to use as a monitor and I was wondering which ones are some of the best for under $3500. I want 1080P, Bigger than my current 50 inch, and must have at least 2 component connection and the more the better. Any suggestions welcome. I realize that I am posting a lot of threads about some pretty expensive hardware but I have big plans and I will hopefully have all of it together within the next 4-6 months.

there are very very view plasma that do higher than 1366x768= 720p so you'll have to go DLP probably if you want to get 1080p resolutions...

Sony SXRD series do 1080p really nicely and are well priced too go with either the 50 55 or 60 inch version http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1149208956900
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1149208957206
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1149208957434
I love having a good job and no bills! Thanks for the suggestions. I sit about 6-10 feet back.

At that distance I would go bigger then a 40incher and thats pushing it.

Also why do you want 1080p? You have to understand that it is essentially a made up language as nothing is recorded in that format.

Your gaming will do fine in 720p which is what I suggest you stick with.

Just a suggestion, you may want to wait until SED televisions are available next year. It's basically a CRT television in a widescreen flatpanel (like a plasma) format with perfect blacks, 1080p resolution, 150º+ viewing angle in all directions in front, and insane refresh rates. They'll be priced higher than LCD and cheaper than Plasma.

You can read more on SEDs within my post in my signature below
yup 32inch lcd at 720P is awesome, but for a computer screen its the very biggst I'd ever go. to big and you'll need keyboard and mouse extensions and a desk that sits 6 feet away from the tv...

Projector if you don't mind the dark.
New Pioneer 50" Plasma @ 1080P if you're willing to strech your budget.
Bigger Samsung DLP set w/1080p.

And if your 50" is widescreen 720p.... wait a while, unless you go PJ.

1080P, for the time being, is overrated, and is only worthwile if you're planning on using it ALOT as a computer monitor.... and then they're is the hassle of setting up the V-Sync and other neat monitor configurations, as many people have a VERY hard time getting 1:1 pixel mapping with their TVs via DVI or HDMI.

We've had a PJ for about a year and a half now and it's amazing. I've posted these elsewhere but here is the setup (my fathers, thought I did most of the setup/shopping): PS: the following pictures are roughly 120" or 8'x4.5'

http://s45.photobucket.com/albums/f5...Family%20Room/ (screenshots are crap in this album, bad camera)

I just tried hooking up my comp to my 42" RPTV HDTV and it just looked terrible. I could not get full resolution in games so I have a box inside of a box, plus I could not get 130dpi to go for some reason and BF2142 would not play.
