I just have some A-DATA RAM which came with a previous PC purchase. It is 4GB. Should I upgrade to something else?

All I know is that it is DDR3-1333. It looks completely plain, not like those flashy multi-colored sticks of RAM.

What should I get if I need an upgrade? Newegg is having a 10% off all RAM sale so I thought now would be a nice time to upgrade.

anything with decent timings and at least 1600MHz should be a decent upgrade

You won't notice an upgrade from 1333. You're fine.

If you are overclocking,get some decent performance RAM.If you are not then there is no need.You could argue the merrit of going to 8GB though at stock speeds.

Even if you upgraded you wont notice any speed improvements visably.

If I do that, would it be okay to have 2 different brands of ram in the sockets?

Ex: 2x2GB A-DATA, 2x2GB Some other brand, for a total of 8GB

I wouldn't bother. Not worth the money to upgrade.
