I recycle because I hate to think of all that plastic sitting in the ground and not going anywhere. That scares me.

Yes, all my plastics go to the dumpster that is picked up by the recycling truck. And all my cans, well, I sell them.

If we keep making it, and piling it up instead of re using...we'll...we'll be doomed

Dude, do you seriously think that recycling is done to save money? It is done to save the earth, because earth is the only planet we have to live on. Money doesn't make the world go round, it pretty much does that by itself (with a major contribution from the sun). Whether or not you make your money doesn't have anything to do how many trips you have to make to your recycling bin...

You probably throw food wrappers and containers out your window when youre driving don't you? Come on man, just recycle. Good for me, good for you, good for the motherland.

I think you need to stop driving then because I see no poin in recycling either. I do recycle at work (because we have to) but at home I just don't.

Save the earth? How about deforestation? Smog? If we really would care about saving the planet, the best thing would be to stop driving vehicles and ride a bicycle and also start building houses made out of brick.

Did you guys know that back in the 60s, GM made a car that drove 50mp to the gallon? Guess what? the government since then regulated that part of the motor industry, so yes, we can have a car that get 50 miles to the gallon but the idiots at Congress won't allow it.

Who cares more about the earth? The people or our goverment? take a guess. BTW, if you don't believe it, pay close attention to the "new" car commercial and you'll see the part on the add mentioning "goverment" regulated or just read it, it appears somewhere in the commercial.
I recycle newspapers because they take up to much space in my garbage.
Everything else goes in the trash.
No curbside pickups so its too far and time consuming to deliver to the recycling place (especially at $3.00 gallon for fuel).
I do care to seperate toxins, batteries, etc. for a yearly dump run.

In Australia we recycle everything. Where I live the council even gives you money (5c) for every bottle, can, carton, anything that has had food in it generally for encouragement. So every carton of beer I buy I get nearly a dollar back for the bottles. The council provides me with 4 different bins with different sections. From garden waste to the pizza box it is all sorted by this large machine and the end product gets recycled at some point. A very good idea indeed. Plastic bags at the end of this year are also banned from use in this country. We are going back to the good old paper bag that has also been recycled. We are also heading in the hemp direction as there is massive Marijuana plantations (with the good stuff bred out) to be made into all sorts. Now we just have to get this nuclear energy and desalinisation sorted and we are home free- sort of

I totally agree with you, I'm in no way saying that I am not harming the earth by daily routine. I would much rather stop deforestation, strip-mining, building luxury house-neighborhood's overtop dense wooded areas so the rich can have 4 homes, then throw a plastic bottle in a recycle bin, but we can't because the wealthy are greedy people that fuel the world...I think people are ridiculous and waistful and it really gets me angry that humans destroy so much and give back nothing. We look at it as 'giving back' when we agree to not destroy .001% of a rainforest.

Im just saying that I CAN recycle, so I do. I CAN'T stop driving places, so I won't.

If the facilities are there, USE EM!

I do all my paper, cans, glass, plastic and veggie pealings go in the compost bin!

Our waste disposal companies were pretty irresponsable for chucking EVERYTHING in landfill sites in the past, they still do but not in the same league,

If you look at alot of developing countries they recycle everything that can be and us, most just dont care.

Well if your son/daughter developes some sort of fatal illness 20 years down the line and it comes back to something that you threw out, got into the water table and contaminated it for everyone, would you still not care?

I recycle, sort of... I work at a Petco. Whenever anything in the store dies, we put them in a freezer. Once in a week or two, somebody from corporate comes by and picks them up; everybody used to wonder what they did with the carcasses. Turns out that they get sent to a rendering plant to be made into animal food.

believe it or not, recycling isn't really that big down here in south carolina...I hardly ever seen recycle bins on the side of the road for the trash guys to pick up. I used to ask my mom why didn't we recycle, and I think I got an answer along the lines of "you have to sort it, and I can't take the time to do that" lol.

So, no, I don't recycle, but like nasgul said I wish we could stop these people in our congress from doing the things they do It pains me to realize that corruption is all over our government, and noone can do anything about it, and whenever someone does they just get smacked down like nothing.

dskina: ***....dude that's why mad cow came about, that's about stupid. Farmers used to grind up sick cattle and put it back in the feed for the other cows to eat...and eventually mad cow started flying around.

I know, but I highly doubt that a horse or cow can get ich, velvet, dropsy, or hole-in-the-head disease commonly found in South American cichlids. W/e, I don't make the rules.
