http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Microsoft-Wheel-Optical-USB-Compatible-Mouse-Black-/221145782309?pt=Mice&hash=item337d50d825

I already bought this mouse and just received it in the mail. I have an original I bought many years ago. I plan to take them both apart to see their pcb. I find it weird that they claim its brand new and don't include the original box. I should receive an email from them soon, because I emailed them about the authenticity

Another thing to note is that these mice are discontinued. I also know that many Chinese companies sell fake shoes, because I see them selling Nike branded shoes that are known to be limited when put into production.

I hope this will help others who are looking for a Microsoft WMO aswell.

Personally, i would not buy this because the product is not in the original box, and as eBay says:
Quote:
Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item is handmade or was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag.
EDIT: The underside branding of the mouse looks alright, but I cannot make out much detail from the image provided, you could search the bar code and see if the number matches Microsoft products.

Some OEM mice comes in large box with no packing around it that doest mean they are fake.
Its silly to make fake mice which are already cheap. I mean say WMO was 11$ if you make fakes of them you are not going to get lots of margin out of it. But if you make fake deathadder which is $55 you can get bigger margin out of it.

Look at this 1800 dpi deathadder for $33

There are fake WMOs from what I can tell. The wheel is smoother, the sides are glossy, the red part at the back doesn't look the same, the text on the back is not as good, and they should all be made 0415 if it's a fake. I hope you got a real one as I bought 5 of them a couple of weeks back XD
And if you were selling fakes, would you put a picture of a real or a fake on your page?

I've also ordered 5 other from another seller. I can tell if they were fake or real after I've got them. (should be within a month or so).

Excellent post with the pictures for comparing. The mouse I order passes all of those. The one that really hard to test is the texture on the side. That one comparison is not so obvious. I also overclocked these on my front I/O usb and it worked at 500Hz no problem. 1000Hz didn't work, but I think it's because I used the front I/O and not the back (which would be directly to my motherboard).

Real.

Same 2nd gen DA 3G or 3.5G tooling w/ sealed off sides. Microcontroller was swapped to a much more synapse friendly model.

Don't expect 3G DA results. Firmware differs quite a bit.
