Or your CPU may end up looking something like this

Will post pics of the motherboard after I get it out of the case, these were old random parts I had laying around and I was bored.

lolwin

I so wanted to do that on my friends old PC, but the bios didn't allow OC'ing.

sorry but duh!

Prescotts were the equivalent to the physical manifestations of hellfire in their day. not to mention when they took two of them to make a Pentium D

You think the other pics were bad, wait till you see this VRM! Kids, this is why you always use heatsinks on your VRMs if you are overvolting a lot.

[email protected] far did you push it, or did you just overvolt the crap out of it until it smoked? I had an old Prescott Celeron 2.8 at nearly 3.8 GHz on air no problem. It was a copper core intel box cooler with an old Tt Volcano12 fan zip tied to it. I had to Vmod the "pins" but it was still within spec at 1.4v.

I'm curious...what did it in finally?
WOW! I think that CPU will still work(insert sarcasm here)

After I see some more OCN'ers reactions to this I will reveal what I did to this CPU, with maybe CPUZ screenshots and everything!

Why are you holding back with the details? Everyone wants to know how much voltage you put through that thing, so don't be an ass thinking "oooo, I'm keeping everyone on their toes with suspense" and just tell them. Otherwise no one will ever care about your thread again.

2.0+v? 150+*C?

Looks like whatever you were using for TIM actually caught fire, lol.

Maybe he didnt use any TIM? My 2.0Ghz P4 was running for about a year without any TIM. It still works ATM. I know it isn't a 3 or 3.8GHz P4, its still a P4.
