Download Speed Spikes

Sup fellas

I'm downloading some large files with FF 3.5.5 and I keep getting these spikes. Any idea why? I think I heard somewhere that it is a recognized problem with 3.5.5 but I'm not sure.

Why did you blue out your IP? Seems silly.

Anyhow, does the same thing happen when you run a speedtest from, say, speedtest.net?

You can't be too careful.

And speedtest runs fine. No stuttering whatsoever. I also tried pingtest and got an A. No packet loss at all.

Is it dropping the KB/s when you're downloading instead of holding steady?

It could be your ISP throttling you for prolonged use of a certain amount of bandwidth. (Like Comcast)

Try downloading a linux distribution via uTorrent.

Check the speed graph and see if that spikes too. If not, I'd try re-installing FireFox or 'up'grading to the 3.6 Beta 3 - seems very stable to me so far.

I download all my Anime (it's not licensed here so it's not illegal) using utorrent and I get pretty stable speeds.

Any idea when 3.6 is released? (non-beta)

Does it help to mention that all the files I'm downloading are from Rapidshare?
Giving us information like picture above is really of little help.
Since a lot of things affect download speed, including load and stress on server, amount of users on line (behind your router, and on the node), your speeds, your ISP, etc.

You are also on Wireless from the looks of it. The only sure fire way is to plug in a ethernet cord from the router to your computer.

Also, lets not talk about downloading anime, even if it isn't licensed, it is still copyrighted.

Yes, very. There's a reason why they call it Rapidcrap

Try this link:
http://ftp.port80.se/archlinux/iso/2...ore-x86_64.img

I get about 700 kB/s on that one on my school internet (which is around what I usually get).

Try that and report back. Rapidshare is absolutely garbage unless you have a premium account.
