I'm trying to reinstall my video drivers, ATI Catalyst 6.9's. However, when I start the install, I keep getting the error "Setup Failed to Launch the Installation Engine: The RPC Server is Unavailable".

So after I had goofed around earlier with all the services, I went back to make sure any listing with RPC in is set to automatic and started. Well, both listings are on auto and have started, yet I still cannot install the drivers. Everything else works fine however, including the internet. So, how do i fix this??!!

I am going on complete memory here, but I think you have to have the newest MS .net framework thing to install new ATi Drivers... This may or may not be related to your problem.

Yep, I've got all the latest and greatest.

I just reinstalled all the latest .net framework stuff, and the install still wont happen. This is getting frustrating now.

Have you tried a driver cleaning program? Or uninstall the cards in Device Manager and load the drivers without the software.

I do not know if this is a pay-for-it program... I have only seen it in action, I do not have it.

I found this. It also links to a MS document. This actually looks like a networking problem...

Absolutely right you are. It installed just like normal with that service running. Very interesting. Thanks for sticking around and helping me out. Much appreciated. Rep+
