I've got a 6600GT and want to enable dual displays. My primary display can go up to 1280x1024, while my secondary can only go up to 1024x768. I want to be able to watch a movie on the secondary, while using the computer for other tasks on the primary. I've gotten it to "mirror" the first onto the secondary, and can watch a fullscreen movie on the secondary, but it's really annoying watching the desktop slide around (since the resolutions are so different). Is there any way I can enable the secondary monitor only when I'm watching a fullscreen movie?

Some GPU software permits you to save profiles that can be accessed quickly by hot keys or though an icon in your tray. If yours does, you may want to assign profile 1 to just your main monitor and profile 2 to the dual setup.

i found when using dual displays sometimes you have to use the resolution of the worst monitor to avoid the 'sliding' that you spoke of.
