Dual Nehalem Mobos

What is coming? What are the specs? Who is who in the dual socket game for Nehalem CPUs?

I will build me one of those so I thought I'd gather up some info, but I haven't been checking so I don't know much on the subject.

Anyone have some info to share?

Yea, that's the only one I found.
Yea... I found that one too but I had lost the link. Interesting layout isn't it? I guess it might be a development version though... 24GB of DDR3 sounds nice... I wonder how well it will OC? It is an ASUS, so it could be fantastic... just hope they don't have the same issue as my P5N32-E SLI with Q6600's where it couldn't push them beyond 3.15 stable... but hopefully they learned their lesson and put out the MoBo only after they got to test it out with the new processors

Thanks. Rep+ for both of you.

Anyone got more info?
Most of the dual LGA1366 boards are going to be aimed at workstations and servers, not OCers and gamers.

Many of them might not OC at all.
That is what I am afraid of. And I wonder... which will be the fastest rig you could build? Will there be dual "non Xeon" boards?
Here is an other article on the ASUS board on Tom's: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/asu...oard,7211.html

Will it be an enthusiast board?

It's just meant for workstations and servers.

If you look at the pwm/vrm area you can quickly see that this board was not setup to be overclocked very far at all.
Yea, that's why I asked... any chance we'll be able to OC Xeons though? Or get a two i7 board?
you can use non-ecc memory on that motherboard? interesting.
And "24GB of Unbuffered RAM"
Nice link huh?

I had heard about this one, that is why I keep asking and looking for this sort of thing... something tells me we might be able to OC a bit... is that way too much wishful thinking?

I don't think we'll ever see two i7 chips on a board; the 5500 xeons have an extra quickpath interface to communicate with the other processor, and i7 chips don't. I think there's a good chance that there will be boards out there that allow you to overclock, although i don't know if you'll see anything INTENDED for overclocking. Hopefully we'll have the chance to turn a 5520 into a 5550 by bumping it up to the full base clock though...

I think the real question is whether or not we will ever see sli/crossfire on a dual processor board- I haven't seen anything indicating that we will.

Now for me. CPUs are more important than GPUs most of the time for editing.

Anyone know of any news on this front?
