Check out LG brand DVD drives, I've had longstanding good results with LG both at home and at work where I'm the IT support.

All brand drives are the same just some of them are better at reading damaged discs.

P.S:choose MSIorNEC have both of them and they're v.g.!
Sony drives are *****!

I will agree on the Sony being $hity. My personal favorite is Pioneer for combo cd-rw and DVD-r/w drives.

as for DVD-Rom, I love my Liteon dvd-rom drive.

I've got two OptoRite drivers.... CD-RW & DVD-RW.... they are both great!!! every disk i put in them, they read.... even damaged ones
