I think it would be unwise to rush out and buy DX10 GPU's upon release. My advice is wait for the verdicts on them from users, and not the ****** who has wet dreams over exaggerated 1st glimpses on specifications and performance. Plus, if you had any sense you would wait for the prices to comes down also (They are hugely expensive).

But, if you really do have your heart set on one of these 8th Gen cards, do make sure of the following before buying:

1: Is your PSU upto the job for a Single card let alone SLI? (they require a hell of a lot of juice)

2: Will your CPU feed it, or will it bottleneck it?

3: Oh, the one that always gets forgotten. Your Monitor? Will it do the card justice?

Performance imo should be huge over DX9, Shader Model 4 and the other little new fangled tricks are over rated and will show no "VISUAL" enhancement over DX9 to the naked eye. Although i do predict that there will be many teething probelms (RMA's) like with any new h/w and many folk will be initially exicted by there new GPU, but will it hold? ATI hasn't weighed in yet....

That's what the rich guys here are for. they always get new stuff when it comes out, it doesn't hurt them too much if it doesn't work. they are rich. then they tell us if it's worth buying.

Yep. It is smarter for us with a budget to wait things out. DX9 is fun enough to keep is occupied anyway as we weigh our decision.

No

You'll need an 8800GTS or 8800GTX or r600, along with Vista, in order to use DX10

The 7900 is G71 aka based on G70 based on NV40, based on NV35, based on NV30. Yea I wonder how many know that the basic idea of the NV30 is in your G71? OH well but that means that its DX9, not DX10, it also means you can call your Card the FX 7900GTO if you want to be totally accurate.
