The game is undergoing a patch very soon, and I just read the fine print at the bottom of the patch notes, and it appears warcraft is doing a very major visual update as well, including support for DX11. The info is at the very bottom of the patch notes.

•Support for DirectX 11 can now be found in the Advanced tab of the Options screen.

Wow is not terribly optimized. It's simply not optimized at all. It doesn't care about your GPU, it get's bottlenecked by HDD, fsb and CPU. I highly doubt that DX11 will carry all those calculations over to your GPU.

The PTR just came up, so it'll be a few weeks yet. Some random Tuesday in the next month or two.

It's not the game that supports it, it's Nvidia/AMD with SLI/CF profiles. AFAIK, they have had their profiles out for a long time. I just fired up the game and saw equal (albeit low) usage on both of my cards, without any tweaking to NVCP or the like.

True; from what I've seen, people have blindly shouted DX11 as if it's a game-changer. However, if they can put more weight on the GPU, it'll be worth it; the game could use any optimization it'll get.

For all your nay-saying, I actually agree with this one. The game needs a new engine... though obviously that won't happen for WoW; they're putting work into Titan...

Yep experimental DX11 support was in the cata patch, there were reports of 20-30% increase in fps from some people and i noticed an improvment when i played.

The DX11 update had nothing to do with graphic quality or new effects.

So that is going on 5 months now.

They beat crysis 2 before crysis 2 was even out.

It helps to read patch\\expansion notes.

DX11 helps fix this because it offloads CPU workloads to the GPU. Increasing performance, because anything CPU's can do, a GPU can do it 10x faster. Why do you think people crack passwords using GPU power?

The move to DX11 is about huge increases in performance, not tesselation or new kinds of lens flare in the disneyland that is wow.

Whats funny?

The fact that you said a new API with more features and better performance had nothing to do with graphics quality or new effects. It has everything to do with it!!

I agree to an extent, but at times there are hundreds of players visible in WoW, which makes it a very CPU intensive game, no matter how much you optimize it. My Q6600 is struggling @ max settings. Bottlenecked by HDD? I haven't encountered such problems, please elaborate.
