Finally got it to 3.5 GHz. on air, temps are around 41-43c at idle, and around 60 - 63c full 100% load.<img src="/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Big Grin" class="inlineimg" /> <img src="/images/smilies/gunner2.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Gunner2" class="inlineimg" /> <br />
<br />
I now have my computer in the basement and the ambient temps are around 68f, so it does make a difference on pc operating temps.

The E6700 can do a lot better than 3.5 on the right mobo and cooling <img src="/images/smilies/tongue.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Stick out tounge caps" class="inlineimg" /> 3.5 is indeed a nice overclock though. <img src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />

You should indeed have some room. Your temps are still ok <img src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" /><br />
<br />
I hit 3.5GHz with my E6600, so I expect you can get a bit more.. (not much more than 3.6GHz on air though...)

I'm not going much higher until it's water cooled, I might try 3.6 though!<img src="/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Big Grin" class="inlineimg" />

When using Core Temp or TAT, I believe the absolute limit is 85C. Obviously, you want to stay a whole lot lower <img src="/images/smilies/tongue.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Stick Out Tongue" class="inlineimg" />

I'm not so sure about that. I never got behind the 85C number in the first place, been meaning to look into it. I thought it possible the core could go higher than the IHS spec, but 25c?? I don't know about that.....The Manual obviously has access to information we don't.....<br><br><a href="http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/122526-max-safe-temperature-e6600-post1321841.html" target="_blank">http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...st1321841.html</a><br><br><br>
I plan to keep mine under 55c because I want it to last a long time.

That x10 multi sure does make a big difference as well. <br />
<br />
I'd say that's a little too high of a Vc. Maybe that's why the idle temps are high as well.

1.46, or 1.48 can't tell very well, either way, at those temps, on air, I hope you got a good deal on that CPU <img src="/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)" class="inlineimg" /> <img src="/images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" />

Yea I agree!<br />
<br />
No, I didn't get a very good deal on the CPU.<img src="/images/smilies/oneeyedsmiley02.png" border="0" alt="" title="Oneeyedsmiley02" class="inlineimg" /> <br />
<br />
I just droped it back to 3300 MHz., thats where it seems to run the best and the coolest.<br />
<br />
Waiting for water now!<img src="/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Big Grin" class="inlineimg" />

I made a similar build with a 6400 and a Artic freezer 7 pro. When I swapped the freezer with a lapped big typhoon I dropped 5 degrees<img src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" /> The freezer was flat and would not benefit much from lapping.

Originally I was going to get a BIG typhoon, but decided to go with the AF 7.<br />
<br />
I think the next step will be water though, just waiting for X-mas!<img src="/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Big Grin" class="inlineimg" />
