he won because they gave up. he compromised a little and they bent over and took it big time. sony had the upper hand but didnt realize what a crap storm this was going to be for them. they bowed out when they realized how bad the publicity was for them.

Wow, Geohot "won" (he didnt lose). Smart move from Sony, i don't know what made them change their minds. My guess is the bad press and anon spreading the word, they made the news and a lot of people were aware that their PSN was down. Anyone wondering why, would be led to information on what was happening. Sony being stubborn was part of the reason why the PSN was down.

Regardless of what changed their minds, it seems they changed their attitude very quickly.

I would not say he won at all. Since the full details have not been released we cant say who won. For all we know he cant touch any electronics for the rest of his life.

My brother knows a buddy from HS, he got into some "trouble" with the Feds and now 20 years later still cant even own a cell phone or digital watch....

Sony didn't win either. The exploit has been exposed. Hackers from all over the world will use the exploit for their own use and release it. They stopped Geohot from doing anything more which doesn't matter.
