E6600 2.4Ghz overclocking

I just bought a Thermaltake big typhoon VX and im getting 35c temp on my intel E6600 2.4Ghz overclocked FSB from 260 to 333, ive heard that you have to increase the voltage to to keep the overclock stable if i go further. im fairly new to overclocking and i also heard that overvolting can blow your system. the multiplier is capped at 9. Can anyone tell me what would be a safe FSB and voltage? If u guys need more info just ask.

There is no "safe limit" on FSB, if you put it too high, it will not boot - simple as that. Voltage on the other hand is a whole different story. You NEED to increase Vcore and northbridge voltage to get any kind of half decent overclock (yes, I know people run under VID overclocks for the epeen - dont flame). Vcore should ideally never get over 1.4v. Some people say 1.362 is the max, some say 1.5. It all depends on how long you want your chip to live for and how well it is cooled. Northbridge voltage can be safelt set to 1.4v and it will drastically help the overclock. RAM voltage can also be upped - what brand and speed RAM do you have?

You are thinking 45nm chips. The E6600 is a 65nm chip and will handle voltage far better then the supposed limit of 1.362 (1.4vcore honestly) for 45nm.

The E6600 will need to voltage increase so temps are gonna be the big factor here.

your fsb limit is probably 500mhz. anything over is dangerous
The official specs for the E6600 are to keep the voltage at 1.5v or lower and try to keep the load temps under 60C. If you can do that you should have no problems.

Here are some examples of voltages I ran on my E6600. Your results may vary.

FSB: Voltage in BIOS
1260: 1.2v
1328: 1.25v
1388: 1.3v
1440: 1.35v
1488: 1.4v
1536: 1.45v
1600: 1.525v

I had a TRUE cooler on that setup and hardly saw temps over 50C.

I have a stable overclock of 380MHs FSB on 1.4v, but i haven't touched northbridge voltage, in bios i set all to auto except for CPU voltage and FSB speed. ill set northbridge to 1.4v and see what that does.
ok thanks for the tips, ive reached the safest overclock for my cooler at 400MHz 1.55v cpu and northbridge at 1.4, got a max of 62 degrees on load, not too bad but ill wait till winter to go that far
