Seems to be a little low.. you should get in the 7000s with a 7900GTX and a 3.6GHz C2D.

Btw, your PSU might not be powerfull enough for your rig.

Really??? 550 watts??? I read that it should be ok with one card, two will need more but maybe your right. I changed the memory as well, it was in auto and now set to 5-5-5-12.

If it was his psu, wouldn;t his pc just shut off? I never had a crappy psu make performance worse. Have you turned off AA and AF and turned everything to higher performance under quality settings? Are you using a newer version of coolbits or something? Because on mine the overclocking memory is set to half of what you have it at. have my 7900gtx at 675/850 in the clock options.

No a weak PSU will only give all the juice it can to the componenets. If the components require more then they will just operate as best they can. However in some instances the PC will restart.

Interesting. Any way to check if the PSU is the problem... other than just swapping it out?

I am thinking the memory is what is causing it too. If I try and push past 400 mhz on the FSB it just craps out and wont even boot. It doesnt matter how much voltage I throw at the cpu or memory. If I try and change just the memory clock to a higher level it wont post.

Check this out, see how many watts your system may be using.

http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine

Cool site... it says I need 497 watt's. I have the 550 and its about 2 weeks old so I am pretty sure its not going out.

Your probably right, but the psu would have to be running at 100% proficency to keep up with that load. Never know man, might be the problem.

not saying that its your problem, but most PSU's dont run at 100% efficiency. Also, most power supplies (with the exception of a few high end brands) can't run at their rated power for extended periods of time. So you may need a bit more juice, but maybe its something else entirely.

you should see a higher CPU score. It must be a RAM bottleneck (IMHO). Also your video scores are a tad low. You may want to flush your drivers and download modded drivers from GURU3D.com.

Well I will try those things tonight. I might swap out the memory with a better version. Right now this is my memory...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145590

I also might just swap out my video card with the ATI model. I cant put my finger on it but it feels like the card might have a slight issue. The tests run fine but the picture seems to be degrading a little.

Yeah, if you aren't OCing your GTX and you are seeing video degrading, it's not a good sign. It may be overheating.

Well I am overclocking but not that much. And she is not overheating. The fan never kicks into high gear. I know it works because you can hear it during boot up but then never again.

I had an ati before and a 6600gt, I like the ATi more though.

Well, If you have the cash to throw away...do it. The top of the line ATI is a screamer. But, then again, why bother. The new DX10 series from both sides is coming out in the next few months. Might want to wait.
