The new game is apparently in pre-production which has a large portion of DICE staff now working on it.

Also, while trying to avoid politics that are in this article i have a question.

What's currently unclear, though, is how the recent invasion of Ukraine by Russia will affect Battlefield's lore and future content.

EA has removed Russia from its EA Sports titles in recent weeks. With Battlefield 2042's game lore based on USA vs. Russia, it isn't easy to see how that narrative can co-exist with future content, considering current world events.

As always, I'll keep the updates coming as they are brought to me.

Why even bother with this part? I mean what exactly does this accomplish? Is russia making tons of money from being in a video game? You made a game lore based on real life countries and or events. It seems to me if anything they could use the current events and make it into a the game in a way that could promote awareness of Ukraine and Russia's war. It doesn't make any sense to just try and erase something that built into the lore. Also, stop selling games to Russia and Belarus is going to do what exactly? Punish the wrong people it seems like to me, i mean kids are going to be sad and the military will still be conducting a war. Maybe like stop something that actually affects the military or pressures the countries to stop.

I really was hopping BF2042 was more BF3/BF4 but the fact that it was trying to be different and still cross-gen without changing the game much. BF3 was so big even though it came out for PS3/Xbox 360. The BF for XBOX One and PS4 improved graphics but still same core game feel and style. Was really hopping for more from BF2042. It did feel like a downgrade in graphics from what Dice was able to achieve much earlier in the generation with BF1/SW/BFV. Sad part this was after 3 years of dev with nothing in-between.

Original plans for the overall series direction were to have Battlefield 2042 act as a foundation for the future, with the next Battlefield game being built upon it.

One former developer who recently left DICE following the launch of Battlefield 2042 had suggested that the next game was almost going to be like a "hero shooter," with specialists becoming mercenaries.

It does seem like this plan may have changed, though, with recent playtest and feedback sessions focusing on the class system in Battlefield 2042.

I see, I missed that. Even still sounds like they are going radical possibly on changes. Guess we will see. I personally hated overwatch, but if they focus on class systems then it will be akin to COD or Rainbow six siege type games?

One would hope it would just be like BF4 and every BF game before that was.

With how bad 2042 did, it would be pretty surprising if EA tried to force the same kind of BS again, but since it's EA... wouldn't be that surprising.

Just make it more like the BF games, not overwatch, or SWBF.

I have no problem with just some engine and graphics updates, maps, and not much else, to most of the past BF games like BF2, BFBC2, BF3/4/1 and some of 5. I never played the rest.

Oh and they better not screw this up again, what else would I play online ? (SWBF2 doesn't even work anymore). And Bethesda better make a good TES6, and it better NOT be locked to 60fps, or I've had it.

And if they make another FO game, it better had way better gfx this time. FO4 looked so old on launch day.
