Online auction house eBay has decided to halt all PlayStation 3 auctions for the time being. According to a post in the eBay Trust & Safety forum, those listing PlayStation 3 systems for sale have had their listings pulled. In addition, eBay is putting very stringent requirements in place for any future listings of the next-gen consoles: sellers need to provide eBay with a copy of their drivers license or other ID, copy of a credit card statement or utility bill with their current address, an invoice or receipt showing "purchase or posession" of the consoles, and written acknowledgement of agreement with eBay's policies.

Now that's stringent if you ask me, and a great idea.

The new rules have already seemed to take place. This was posted by a user who stated he is permitted by ebay to sell the item, but he is shipping it the day they come out. Dont know exactly how reliable this is.

Also, eBay says that you have to ship the console within 30 days of your auction ending, but Paypal's rule is 20 days after the auction ends and you have to use Paypal lol, so the rule is pretty much 20 days, no more receiving payment and promising the PS3 (Xbox360) will ship in like 8 months

Rule #4 is stupid. Even if you use Paypal and got scammed, chances are that you will not get your money back because Paypal sucks

See ebay is making you use paypal to make some mucho money. Thats bs. They shouldn't be able to tell you what forms of payment are okay for YOU to recieve. So lets see, ebay takes a precentage of the auctions sale, and then paypal take a precentage, and since ebay and paypal are one in the same, They are making a killing on each console sold.

Yup, lets say each one sells for 2k, ebay takes 15%, paypal probably takes half of that because of the partnership. Thats bs.

its not so much a partnership, because ebay is who made paypal. And they still own it. So what ever ebay wants they pretty much get. So if they want to raise the precentage that paypal takes, boom done. And I could see that happening right now. Because of all the ps3/wii auctions.

I'd rather see Paypal as I've never had problems (except for the large fees)

Money orders could get lost in the mail, which worries me.

Anyways, I'm very glad some people won't abuse of this lol
Very glad indeed. This will mean no one should have 10 consoles for sale

Most people know its spam, so why do they bother? At some point it has to become obvious...

Ah, eBay.......I wonder if they are dumb enough to think forcing people to use PayPal actually offers some form of protection, or if they are doing it deliberately.

I want to take this oppurtunity to urge anyone who gets ripped off to FORGET about PayPal's so called protection and contact your credit card company first. If you let Paypal do their "investigation" it will be too late to have your credit card company help by the time they tell you to smeg off.

Although, personally, anyone who would pay $1000 or more for a launch PS3 needs to have their head examined.........
