Hey,

I've herd a lot of people say don't used coloured coolant because they dye clog's the system.

Does anyone no if this is okay to use with the KIT: EK Ekoolant UV Blue 100ml

Also because it's only 100ML do i have to mix with water?

Sorry for the nub questions but this is my first loop.

Thanks.

You can buy silver kill coils from a lot of places. Sidewinder computers and Frozencpu carry them. The coil is used because it allows fluid to pass through it and you can insert it directly in a tube without worrying about it restricting flow all that much....

I suppose, but distilled water and ptnuke/silver killcoil will work better. From all of the threads I ever read here (as well as reviews and such) dye just stains your blocks and can gunk/clog pumps and blocks, so it's not advised. It's not just the tubing you have to worry about.

I tried the EK dye w/my first build. I noticed my temps went up about 2C after a week...but didn't think too much of it (the ambient had risen a tad as well). I added my second Vid card block and decided to replace my clear tubing w/UV reactive blue. I looked into the fittings on the CPU block and saw tiny strands of blue gunk. I pulled apart the block and at least six of the channels were 100% blocked...plus it looked gross. I think the dye, along w/putting too much bacterial agent in my reservoir, did the trick. Now it's just a silver coil, a drop of anti-bacterial solution, and blue tubing and no gunk and steady temps.

I've just flushed my Loop today and had no problems with stained block res or piping. I was using De-ionised water and Swiftech's Hydrx additive which is supposedly known for staining tubes and reservoirs and clogging waterblocks. Not a single problem after not flushing for over a year. And only occasional top-ups every month or so. With additives I think it's all about judging how lean or rich you run it. I think all the guys who end up with stained hardware are using too much additive.

I'm now using de-ionised water and a few drops of PT-nuke with clear tubes. All is well.

If you local hardware shop does carry it then by all means go for it. Just make sure that it is 99.9% silver. Anything less I wouldn't stand for.

It sounds like you're bacterial agent might have reacted with it.

I don't disagree...but I still think anytime you use anything other than distilled water you run the risk of sediments. The second loop i did w/distilled, the coil, and one drop of PTNuke was spotless a month later when I upgraded components. That said...some folks have reported using dyes and Feser fluids without any trouble. It all comes down to what feels right for you (like a lot of things...).

Anyway...without discussion like RED FLUID V. WATER...FIGHT!!! or EK V. Koolance...FIGHT!!!!.....where we would we be???
