Ok, making a pc for someone and i messed up and broke the sata port on the motherboard (broken plastic thingy)

The board was running a RAID mirror 1 on two wd 640's.
Can I move the cable from one channel (sata 1 & 2) to a new one (sata 2 & 3) and will it work / rebuild.
I would hate to have to reinstall OS & everything again.
Let me know what to do / what more information helps.
