[Engadget] iPhone Finally Gets Copy and Paste!

No surprises here: Apple just announced that iPhone OS 3.0 will support copy and paste. A double-tap auto-selects the text you want with movable "grab points," and a pop-up edit bar display buttons for cut, copy, and paste. Finally! What's more, there's also "shake to undo," which is exactly what it sounds like: a quick shake brings up a box that allows you to undo and redo c/p actions.

I posted this specifically for Cut and Paste. The other article was a event log of all the events. This isn't a dupe.

haha, my friend has that phone. It's pathetic next to the iPhone. It's not a bad phone, but it's basically featureless compared to the iPhone.

Haha! Same here.

I had asked my friend to do something on his phone because my battery was dead, and he was like it can't... I was like *** is the point of having a smartphone if it can't do regular stuff?! To which his reply was "it's not a smart phone, it's a regular phone with a touch screen."

They actually want to make sure they do it right. They want the execution of whatever feature you're using to be just as good as using the feature. It's easy to stuff a bunch of features into a phone but have the phone suck so much that you can't use it.

wow copy and paste is like.. a top requirement. what took em so long?
Copy and paste is a convenience, not a necessity. The iPhone has been out for what.... 3 years now? The fact that a people have gotten by just fine without copy and paste shows you don't need it, it would just be nice to have. It is hilarious how much you guys moan and whine about something that was never promised like it was entitled to you. No one made you buy the phone and if the lack of copy and paste was a deal breaker, then don't buy it and move on with your lives. Consider you guys lucky... I am stuck with my Storm for the next 2 years with its crappy ass OS (even after installing the 0.103/0.109 hybrid firmware) waiting for Verizon/RIM to get their asses in gear.
been using copy and paste on my iPhone for a long time now, sucks to be a normal user doesn't it? us Jailbreak-ers get a lot more out of our iPhones.

also used bluetooth file transfer and quick search for many times.
