If the previous Alienware M11x R3 spec leak got you all giddy, then we have some good news for you: according to a manual dug up by one of our eagle-eyed readers, it appears that this year's M11x refresh will indeed be coming with second-gen Core i5 ULV and Core i7 ULV options, along with a faster DDR3 bus (1333MHz instead of 800MHz), a higher-res webcam (2MP instead of 1.3MP), an HD TrueLife LCD, and optional 3G / 4G mobile broadband. But of course, the real meat on this laptop is its graphics card, which turns out to be an NVIDIA GeForce GT540M with either 1Gb or 2GB of dedicated memory -- not bad for a laptop of this size.

Who cares!? A GT 540M will conquer any game out there. Very powerful little GPU there, at least it is for 1366x768.

That is gonna be sweeeeeet. ^_^ I might consider buying one just because.

It's still nice to have both a desktop and portable gaming solution

wow... that's a very powerful card for that laptop...

according to http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-540M.41715.0.html It's comparable to a 5770/5750, that's insane o_O

Starcraft: High - ~37FPS

Bad Company 2: Medium - ~46FPS / High - ~31FPS

Black Ops: High - ~57fps

MW2: Ultra - 58FPS

Crysis: High - ~31FPS

Pretty impressive for a laptop of this caliber:)
That is in comparison to the Mobility 5770/5750, not the desktop card and benched at a low res like 720p. 3DMVantage Performance GPU score is just 3461.4 @ 1280x1024, so it is weaker than a 9600 GT. You can get a laptop with an i3 380m and 540m for $600 now and for that price it is a nice entry level gaming laptop. I wouldn't want to pay Alienware's mark up because that brings you close to refurbed G73 pricing.

I'm a sucker for looks and I think the new Alienware Laptops are gorgeous. An illuminated keyboard is a $100 feature for me, it'a almost an infinite amount of usefulness, and it also looks badass. The Alienware "tax" to me is worth it

Once again, you guys this is not a desktop replacement. We all know this. I just think that 13"-14" is the max size I want any laptop to be, and I think that 11" is the sweet spot. This is my ideal form factor and performance for on the go. "Experience?" Please. I can have just as much fun on this thing.

sweet i was just looking at getting the base model on dell.com for $599 but I may just have to wait and see what the opening price on this thing is.

To everyone crapping on this and saying this is a ridiculous laptop. I have yet to find an ultra-portable gaming laptop in the $600 range that can do what this little thing can, not to mention 7.5 hrs battery life (actual use on integrated gpu) and some great looks. For the money these little things are great.

It's really the only laptop that Alienware offers that's worth the asking price.. The M15X is kind of overpriced. $1600 for the same spec's at a $1449 Asus.
