Equating AMD speeds/models with Intel speeds/models, a chart would be helpful

Would it be possible to make a list of all the AMD CPUs, thier Model number and Celeron/Pentium model and GHz equivalents.

Isn't there a way to do something like this? For example

---------------------------------------------------------------
Sempron 3100+, 1.4v, 256Kb L2 1.8 GHz=Celeron 2.8 GHz
--------------------------------------------------------------
Athlon XP 2800, 1.6GHz=Pentium 2 GHz
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Athlon FX-55, 2.4 GHz, 1.6v, aMb L2=Pentium 3.6 GHz, 2Mb L2

Like a spreadsheet or something.

I've always wanted a list like this. Because AMD PR numbers are unreliable in themselves. We need a direct comparison.

When I see "AthlonFX-55" I have no idea what the speed is or how on earth it relates to a Pentium.

I just think there should a be a rough comparison betwen AMD and Intel without guesswork. There may be one floating around on the internet, but it would be great to incude one here on this site.

that would be AWESOME because i can NEVER explain to people how my 2.1ghz athlon 64 PWNS their pentium 4 at 3ghz 32 bit.

i just say yeah its alot faster and i'm not gonna explain it.

I=Intel
A=AMD

(I*9)/6=A and vice versa.

Also one thing to note if you do complie this list, remember to take into account of the cache sizes and the process used (90nm vs. 130nm).

I don't know about comparing brand, but I got this nice program made by someone on the forum (can't remember the name) that compares the speed of Intel to AMD.

Try it out!

EDIT: It's .rar But you could still extract it... I think..

I guess what I really want to know is why AMD does not include the GHz in the model names. For example, why not call it AMD Athlon FX 2600? (for 2.6GHz)

Or AMD Sempron 1800 (for 1.8 GHz)

Or Athlon 2400 (for 2.4 GHz)

The current rating system tells nothing about the speed of the AMD, only how it compares to Intel. It has always bugged me.

It just makes it easier when looking at a system spec required for a game you can easily equate what you have versus what you need. From my experience they usually mention Intel speeds rather than AMD.
