I get an error when trying to format as follows

"Setup was unable to format the partition. The disk may be damaged.

Make sure the drive is switched on and properly connected to your computer. If the disk is a SCSI disk, make sure your computer manual of SCSI adapter documentation for more information.
You must select a different partition for Windows XP
To continue, press Enter."

This is not the system in my specs. The harddrive is a SATA Segate Barracuda ..160gb and it was just running windows. The person i took it from just wanted me to format with the disks that came with it. So i put the disc in , and got that error. Is something wrong with the cd ( windows xp professional ) or is it something with the Hd ?

couple things... One, are you installing the sata drivers during the install?? Two... do a check disk on it from another machine. It may be bad.
