I'm trying to installed Windows on an old 80gig EIDE hard disk. The drive works as i've just taken it from anohter computer and it had windows already installed on it, although I got the bios telling me 'error loading os' after it finished the POST. I ran windows setup on it letting it delete the partition, ran a full format, copy the instalation files over and the computer rebooted to load the next part of the windows setup from the drive, as it does but I got the same error.

So irrespective of whether therse a good OS install on there, or it's a blank drive i get this error. My question is, does deleting a partition or running a full format affect the MBR on a harddisk? If that is what is screwed and it doesn't change it, then that will be the reason and I will need to repair it somehow.
