Does anyone know the ETA for the new OCZ phase cange system? I know how much they are probably going to want it to cost but i have no idea when they plan to release it.

If they do release it, say farewell to conventional watercooling.

Don't see it happening.

$299 is still alot of money for a cooling system, Considering that if you play your cards right you can get high-end watercooling for $150-200.
ya but for only $100-$150 more you can get a complete phase change system that can give you below freezing temperatures (hopefully) without as much hassle. Allthough you wouldnt be able to cool your videocard with this you can still buy a good fan for your video card. But if reviews come out and say there is a lot of problems with it and such not ill probably go with watercooling.

$300 US. Sub-zero temps for that price is really nice.. Given its not the most-cooling phase out there, but for $300 I think they had a FX-57 at 3.0 at like -25C ~ -30C.
An FX 57 at 3.0ghz 0_o...... amazing 200mhz overclock there, you'd really need phase change for that!

It was for the temps, it was like I said -25C ~ -30C. Thats still alot of room to OC

I think it was at 3.2 Ghz running 3dmark....and I'm sure someone will mod it or something to cool your gpu

So does anyone know the ETA of it??
You have to consider the fact that OCZ did state that the initial MSRP would be 250-300ish but if sales boom (which I do believe it would), they would drop the price to 200 which is a comparable price to a moderately high end WC setup. And I heard Chilly1 was collaborating with them for their Cryo-Z, so I do believe there exists some latent potential just because he's working with them.
I would say they are keeping it low to attract buyers and keep it at that price, if they go too low then they are cutting their profits, in any case if something is selling, prices typically go higher because people will pay for it because it is a good product...$300 is really low to begin with so I dont see it going much lower unless new models come out.
"OCZ hopes to make phase-change a real choice for more buyers with the introduction of a $299 MSRP Phase Change cooling system. Shipments should begin in about 30 days, and OCZ tells us that once sales volume picks up, they are hopeful that prices can drop even further to the $200 range. This will make OCZ phase-change about the same price as some of the better water-cooling kits." Anandtech
"OCZ hopes to make phase-change a real choice for more buyers with the introduction of a $299 MSRP Phase Change cooling system." Heck, Remonster hopes the same thing! lol. I just hope this thing is quiet, the only thing keeping me from a Prometia Mach II GT or Lightspeed LS is the noise.
supposed to be like may or march or april or sometime around there, all i remeber is they said a month with an "a" or an "r", hopoe that helps a little..just think of it this way..its soon so start saving =], -trey

A dollar saved is a dollar earned!

Im sure a refrigerant change and a well placed capillary tube to the gpu and there you have it. I really don't need a chip to run at -25 or below so im not to concerned with removing the extra heat from the GPU. Im really thinking about picking one up and doing some mods to it to see if it can cool a cpu and gpu both.
There is no denying that this will open the door for entry-level phase change. Computer cooling is evolving as computer components evolve (and thus produce more heat). This was inevitable anyway. The real question is, where will computer cooling go once it has exhausted all its options with phase change?
I doubt that'll happen, at least for a while. Both Intel and AMD are producing chips using smaller processes, which use less heat. They should've came out with that cooler when the Prescott came out. With processors using less and less power, thus dissipating less and less heat, I doubt water/air cooling will ever be completely replaced. TEC's may even come back.
