We've been waiting to get our hands on a USB 3.0 flash drive for a while, but if you listen to Patriot that may be a bad idea. Seems Patriot has been running into a problem with the current batch of SuperSpeed controllers. The chips are great but they run a little too hot to be in really tiny devices like flash drives. Patriot, a veteran in the memory and flash memory world, probably knows what it is talking about. Strangely though, none of the other vendors bringing USB 3.0 flash drives to the market have mentioned this heat problem.

I know Patriot let a bad batch of SSD's slip out of their hands and they were sold for 5 months and have been leaving a trail of failed drives left and right.

Curious to see if it is truly Patriot or all vendors with this USB 3.0 problem.

Should make the casing a heatsink.

No you will need a DICE pot on the thumb drive, and volt-mod the USB connector

I felt bad when I lost the cap to my eXporter flash drive, I can only imagine how bad you must feel.

If they make the case a heatsink, I foresee many RMAs due to people dropping this little bugger and damaging the chip. You ever tried dropping your CPU with a true mounted on it? Not good for the chip!
