I've never seen one of these cards in the flesh so I have a question - if I was to buy multiple EVGA 580 GTX hydro copper 2 cards with the integrated waterblocks, they are a single slot design (single slot backplate, single slot card thickness including the waterblock), does that mean I can put two or three right next to each other on the motherboard, or due to the water connections between them is a space needed between them?

Also, if I get a P67 EVGA Classified board (I've never had an evga board before) will adjacent slots be suitable for SLI or will it likely be like other boards where a space is expected and SLI is done in alternate slots?

What I _really_ want to be able to do is fit 3 watercooled 580GTXs on the same board (for 3-way SLI for surround 3D) along with a sound card (x1 PCIe slot needed), a RAID card (x16 slot needed, hopefully single slot design card) and a FOURTH graphics card outside the SLI group (probably an NV440) to run extra monitors. So 6 slots will do it but everything has to be single slot and the SLI cards need to be adjacent to each other.

Need no space really. Once my 3rd comes in, I'll have them 'blocked and sli'd in the 3 x16 slots on my mobo, and linked together with DD crossSLI tubes.

Like this:

*not my system. that's 2 cards, just picture a 3rd on the bottom/top...somewhere in there...lol.

Pretty sure you need at least one space between them (it doesn't have to be an 'open' slot though, just a slot) to make room for the h2o connections ... like in ********** pic there, he has an open slot between the cards, but he could have a like a PCI-Ex 1x sound card in that white slot there w/o any problems.

But I'm not an expert on water cooling, so ... don't take my word for it.

********* - I know you said that wasn't your system in the picture. Perhaps you just posted that as an example and didn't see the x1 slot left empty between the two cards in that picture.

Are you saying in your system the 580GTX Hydro Copper 2 cards fit right next to each other with no spare slot in between?

I hadn't thought about putting the other cards in between the SLI'd cards, I suppose I just assumed it wouldn't fit but actually I think it just might.

Is anyone here doing that - ie. sound card (mine is an Asus Xonar D2X) or RAID card (haven't brought that yet, but should be a similar size to a sound card I guess) between SLI single slot cards? Is there plenty of space there for a typical sized (non graphics) pcie card???

thanks
