Has anyone played the game F.E.A.R. with this card. I read somewhere that it didn't play well with this card. In my opinion, this card should play this game just fine. Please let me know what you think.

I have the same card and the demo ran fine at 1280x960 on high (minus soft shadows) for me, no overclock. It is a heavy game, though. What kind of numbers are you getting FPS-wise?
I haven't actually played the game on my system since I am getting the comp on Tuesday. That game is on my to buy list though, and thought I would ask if it played well. I know that F.E.A.R. is a system hog and thought I would ask others that have the same card before I buy the game. Thanks for the input.
well if it makes you feel any more comfortable i played fear on my old 9800 pro 128mb on low settings and it was just fine except no high details never skipped either but i had to run everything on low and at a resolution of 1024-768 instead of my native res.......
I played it on medium settings with my 6600GT, got 30-ish FPS... and my CPU sucks...
Thanks guys for the input. i'm really looking forward to getting the comp on Tuesday and start gaming like a mad man. Fear looks really cool and will probably be my first purchase. Thanks again.
Fear ran totally fine on my system with everything maxed out. No problems what so ever.
I play it on mine totally fine (on 1280, not 1600) and stay above 40fps. My card is a bit oc'd tho (480/1220) but it shouldn't make that big of a difference.

You want to see a sick game for graphics that runs super fine on a 7800gt? buy (... or you know, the alternative) Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butchers Bay and put the pixel shader mode to 2++ and enjoy. Better graphics than fear and doom3 and hl2. Its so realistic. I'll see if I can dig up a screenshot somewhere...
It will play fine with that card. I had it at 1600x1200 maxed out with no problems when I had one gt.

I ckecked out the game trailer for that game. It does look pretty cool. Man, so many games to play in so little time!

I understand lol i jsut got my card like 2 weeks ago and its been non-stop trying of every game on the market. I replayed hl2, farcry, FEAR, doom3, NFSMW etc and then i found riddick and i've been playing it in awe for the last 2 days. If I remember when i get home i'll post some screenshots I took in-game. Probably the closest thing i've seen to "cinematic" gaming.

My friend plays FEAR just fine on his Laptop, and he's got a radeon 9600GO, so i think it will play just fine.....not to mention it runs fine on mine.....i don;t need insane resolutions either.....

It sounds freakin awesome, I'm surprised that more people haven't raved about this game. So as soon as my new comp is ready on Tuesday, I'm off to buy (or the alternative) 3 games. Fear, Call of Duty 2, and Riddick.

FEAR is an awesome game, and it runs totally fine at max settings. Just keep the soft shadows off.....during the FEAR test, I average something like 85 FPS, so it's great.

Soft shadows will evenbring a GTX to it's knee's, you want SLi for that

LOL, I thought so. That is another reason why I went with a SLI board. Once the 7800GT comes down in price, i'm sticking 2 of the babies in there.

Nah I can run EVERYTHING on high.
With soft shadows and what else on.
And get smooth gameplay in 1280/720 (i think the res is)
but when I goto 1600/1200 it lags a bit in some areas.

ya on 1600x1200 i put the aa/af down a bit and it runs totally fine, 1600x1200 with low aa/af is better than 1280x1024 with high af (totally a personal opinion, not factual at all).
i have that card and fear plays incredible on it.
