For an upcoming build Ive ended up acquiring 2 new PSUs. 1 will be resold, but Im not sure which one to keep.

System specs:

Ryzen 2600X
16GB Trident Z 3600 (CL15)
EVGA GTX 1070 SC2 iCX
ASRock X470 Fatal1ty Gaming K4
True Spirit 140 Power CPU cooler
2 SATA SSDs (WD Blue)
3-4 140mm fans

Overclocking is a possibility so I wanted to plan that in.

Im guessing even the 550W is more than enough, so it probably comes down to whichever one is better quality. Ive read pros and cons about both the EVGA and Corsair units, so of course it doesnt seem very cut or dry.

Im also open to reselling BOTH PSUs and getting something different if it would make a real difference. $70-ish price range would be best.

Thanks in advance.

I did read about the Eco mode lack of quietness, was leaning towards the Corsair because of it but also didnt want 650W if its not necessary.

I also read of protection issues (overcurrent, overvoltage) with the G3...is that still a thing?

Google Express has 25% off right now, I can get a Focus Plus 550W for $57.....

The G3 is a good unit. 550W is more than enough watts for the GTX 1070. But if you want quiet then up the wattage. I have a 850w. Overkill I know. But the fan doesn't even turn on. It's like fanless! https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1328594-REG/evga_220_g3_0750_x1_supernova_750_g3_750w.html

No going up in wattage does NOT make it more quiet its a problem with its fan mode when used in eco mode and no matter what you do or how how you go up nothing will fix it
Not all units have that problem so yours might not but many if not most of them do have that noise problem

Other then the noise there is nothing wrong with G3 its the B3 that has had problems not the G3

But the Seasonic Foucs Plus is just a much better option then a G3 or a TX so go with that instead

Yeah, I don't know why I said that. Just stuck to what I said originally. Sell both or return both and get the seasonic .

The G3 is better but also much louder when used in eco mode

If you want a quiet PSU when used in eco mode the G3 is not it

Yeah, not really. That only applies to the 850W and higher models. the 750W and lower models have a less aggressive curve. There was a review on the 650W unit I managed to find after days of searching that pretty much confirmed this. Even EVGAs own website shows that the +850W models use a different fan curve. I was told the same thing by several here (that the G3 was loud) and ended up getting a G2 instead. Was a bit ticked off about it, but the G2 was much cheaper at the time and is practically the same, so whatever. The OP is looking at the 550W model, and most reviews for that particular unit state that it runs quiet. Noise is subjective, so there is that too.
