eVGA GTX285 Vanilla Needs Help!

Problem:
I just got my eVGA GTX285 vanilla from newegg yesterday installed it today and was disappointed to find out that my card can not overclock to FTW speeds. Stock speeds on these cards are (648/1476/2484) my goal when buying this card was to bios flash it to the FTW version (720/1620/2772) but so far i have been able to hit a little above the SSC speeds (705/1587/2648). The SSC speeds are very stable i ran 3dmark06 with out any artifacting as well as furmark with no problems.

Solution:
So guy what can i do to get my card to FTW speeds? Im not a big fan of volt modding since ive never soldered anything before. I found this GTX285 Volt Mod Thread but im not really sure what to do, and am not real comfortable with the whole idea. So what can i do here guys? I want FTW speeds!!!

Here check out the EVGA GPU Voltage Tuner. Just register your card on there site and you can download that. Or just find a link somewhere on google =].

Unfortunately the voltage utility isn't compatible with the GTX 285. The voltages are hatdwired to the card.

Unfortunately op, you cannot do anything about OCing the card without vmoding it. An from what I've read, only WCing with the
Vmod seems to get better OCs.

you can hold out for the 295 to become available. Or you could always step up to the FTW for basically the cost of shipping...

The volt mod may help you, but it may not. These cards respond better to OC on aftermarket cooling, specifically water blocks. I have gone as high as 1.29 - 1.31vGpu with no difference in OC.

I was running 735/1620/1350 for the first month or so, but noticed some artifacting in crysis (temps were about 71c under 100% fan) so I have had to back down to 702/1584/1296.

Still at those clocks this card runs 90% of the games I play maxed out so its not much of an issue
