EVGA Precision questions

I am new to using Precision. Was using Riva Tuner, but thought I would give this a try. I was wondering if the auto fan control works well or not at all with Precision, or if it is better just to set the fan speed manually. Also, I am guessing there is not options to set temp thresholds for fan speeds like Riva Tuner either. Didn't see an option for that anyways.

Main question, I guess is, about the auto fan speed...if it works or not.

Thanks

It works for me. It comes on a little slow at first but will crank the fan to 100% if you need it. It seems to let the fan run around 30% to 40% untill the card gets to 75 degrees or so then really cranks it up.

As far as I know, there's no auto fan speed control with EVGA Precision. You can set the fan speed to a given percentage and leave it there, but it won't throttle for you.

Here it is.

You mean that auto button? On my card that just locks the speed at 40%. Maybe yours is different.

Try it out. Download the last remnant benchmark and run it, If that doesn't push the fan speed up nothing will. That benchie really heats up a card.

Maybe I'm not being clear - on my card, the fan is locked at 40% from the factory. Using the "auto" function will still keep it at 40%. It looks like the 8800GTS may throttle itself some, but the card doesn't seem to want to turn the fan up too much. I still say just crank it up to 70% and leave it there. No reason not to!
If I dont mess with mine it stays at 60 but I keep it at 100% all the time anyway.
