Hey guys how have you been? Anyway I just wanted to take the time out and talk a little about this game for those of you who havent played it. This game looks really great! I must say indeed something finaly to stress the 8800 a little. Well wrong. Im lucky to play this game at 1024x768 with high settings with a max of 15-25fps which it seems very hard on my computer. I have a very well capable RIG which is bellow even with the latest upgrade including: a new case, 2Gb of ram in dual channel and some new paste. I just dont know what to do i go past the recomended specs by far.. Anyway post your specs and tell me how well it runs on your rig because This makes me angry becuase of my specs and it still running like crap and even with new drivers.

also if there is a benchy linky for this game with various ATI and Nvidia cards please post it I would be much thankful.. Thanks!

Yeah but you and I will probably run about the same... and definitely you will run better because of the better video card and overclocked CPU... but I think it is the ram which is now holding you back check your max commit charge in the task manager... and if it is above the 1GB stick that you have consider more ram before DDR400 gets scrapped totally. I just bought mine because of that reason.

Well my machine plays it like CRAP, lol. I suppose for being a new game, I play it decently considering my hardware:

Athlon X2 3800+ (clocked at 2.5GHz) (Socket 939)
1GB Value RAM DDR400
ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe
Foxconn 7600GT (stock clocked)

With that hardware, I can run the game at 800x600, but with all other settings maxed out. I'd love to go higher, but I think my video card is stopping me there (also running Vista x86), or RAM. Buying an Opty 165 soon, hoping that helps some once overclocked. Next will be a 2GB RAM kit, and maybe 8600GT(s). I don't know for sure yet, I might just sell this machine, and build a newer faster one, lol....just to play this game!

Anyway, GREAT game...just requires a pretty big machine to play it.

It's prolly your RAM.. I see most people with only 1Gb having troubles with it, especially when also running Vista (wich takes up a good 500-700Mb)

but well, I can't run it AT ALL
(not yet at least)

1680 x 1050, mostly high settings, with a few settings on medium. Runs very smooth, except every once in a while it stutters a little bit.

Plays without any issues on my computer atm

As mentioned I think it may be your ram thats the issue, my brother also tried dirt with a similar to yours but with 2gb, and he doesnt get any issues. He gets a steady 45fps

Hope this helped

exactly the issue. If you are planning to run the DiRT demo even on Xp I recommend 2 gigs of ram. You will definately see the difference. I'm not too sure about memory usage on Vista for DiRT, but all I can remember is that when I had vista, it always Idled using about 400mbs of ram.
Just my 2 cents

Otherwise, it runs at 1024x768 @ high accept for shadows, and particles, and I get anywhere from 15-40fps. usually stays around 29-30 for me. no vertical sync btw.

1024x768 & 1280x1024 run exactly the same for me! in the good way too... I get super smooth gameply at 1024x768 w/ 4x MSAA and the game looks great! When I switch to 1280x1024 and keep the 4x MSAA I get the same performance. The 8800 series really performs well. I can't wait until new drivers come out.

1440x900 smooth with vsync on, 4x msaa, maxed out- ultra quality etc. My ramerates seem to dip a little when doing the truck race with multiple opponents. I didn't think i would like the game, but it looks awesome.
