So I bought F.E.A.R. today from a friend (for like 20 bucks) played it for about an hour, and right from the beginning it feels way to much like Half Life 2, don't get me wrong I love HL2, but it feels WAY to similar, like I am playing the same game. Does it use the Source engine?

I just hate it that it is so similar, I was looking forward to a new FPS to play for a few weeks, now it feels like I am in the HL2 universe but shooting different people.

There are very few FPS's that truly stand out in my opinion.

BF2 - Parachutes FTW
Halo1/2 - LOL STICKY NADES = FUN
Medal of Honor - Dunno what but this game was the shizz, fun 1player and multi

The rest are all blah and can go DIAF.

Dude you know what scared the crap out of me on F.E.A.R. demo?

Going down that one ladder and seeing that girl o_O and the voices. I have never wanted to go down a ladder faster in my life. And then at the bottom there was this guy and I swear I emptied like half a clip into him before I realized he wasn't real. The rest was real blah and didnt make me want to buy it. Oh yeah this was @ 2am with a lamp on.

Anyone ever play Breakdown? It's FP but only a bit S. Plus Cheeseburgers + Soda = Health.

I loved the F.E.A.R. Gameplay. The AI is great. It reminded me of the first time I played the HL AI. It was like "wow...these guys are flanking me and thinking of how they can get me" If you aren't playing on hard switch it. It will be a new game.

F.E.A.R. and HL2 are 2 tottaly different games, the graphics in F.E.A.R. are a bit more realistic then HL2, imo HL2 still has that comic kinda graphics.

For the gameplay, F.E.A.R. is a bit harder to play and (same as graphics) bit more real then HL2. Also the aiming is different. Ithink you just took a quick look @ both games instead of studing them harder and see the differences. But still there both a FPS, but if you put it that way then D3, Prey, Q4 are also the same.

Perhaps it was just first glance type stuff, I will probably dive in farther, I think it was the User Interface while playing, with the "power suit" then health, and the rest of it to, just looked to much like it.

I agree with you Kamakazi. I like both games very much but i agree, they both feel VERY similar to each other.

Okay played some more, still feels like HL2 alot, granted the enemies are cool, gotta love that jump and roll move to cover that they always do, but I do find the story line (what little I know of it) much more engaging in F.E.A.R.
