[email protected] n00b who swore he'd never fold

Hi I just read megaoption's [email protected] installation guide for vista

I installed it, followed all the directions to install the latest version,

and I also read Taeric's how to install/use [email protected] thread.

Here is a screenshot of everything running:

Did I get it right?

Main Question: How can I make it so that I can fold on both my CPU and my GPU??

also Am I using full load, did I set everything correctly?

This is my first time folding (I hope I'm doing this right)

I want to help the folding project and I want this to work properly. Please help me if you see anything wrong with this screenshot.

Thanks

edit: one last question.. do I have to register anywhere for my folding to be "Valid" or "sync" with stanford, or is everything working correctly..

No registering.
Bring up your task manage if you want to see if your using 100% of both cores.

it's not using 100% but I guess that would depend on the Work Unit, correct?

Some are more intensive than others?

also I guess I'm just worred because in Fahmon it's missing:

Core
Credit
Deadline

and showing 0% ppd.

all it shows is:

1 Project: 46% progress ETA: 30 mins
Project; 3798 (R92, C3, G16)
Username Shawnj0 (37776)
Downloaded March 16, 4:23

Also how can I run SMP on my GPU, just download the GPU SMP client and run it simultaneously?

edit: sorry guys for all the questions, I've just never folded before and I wanna make sure I get this right.

Sorry its been a long long time since I have run smp, back when I ran it 5.91/5.92 it ran smp without any extra work. If its smp it should be using very close to 100% of each core...I would say no less than 80% of both cores.

As for the gpu client yes, its much simplier to set up and should run with the cpu client just fine. Personally I use Balwolfs vmware to fold, it uses 2 cores per vmware. You have to use the 1.5 ubuntu download if you go that route. It also adds quite a bit of points per day, but is a bit more advanced over standard smp I would bet.

oh no! right now it's only using low amounts ~30% cpu on avg and sometimes sporatically higher on each core and ~1.4GB even though I set it to 100% usage and 4GB for memory when I set up the [email protected] Win32.exe SMP client.

Is there something I'm doing wrong, or does it depend on WU like I suggested?

hmmm, no I didn't do that.

I will read the guide, if installing the [email protected] system tray doesn't help me figure this out.

TBH I would first get that GPU folding. That thing is a beast.
Setting up the GPU is fairly straight forward too. Check the essentials thread for gpu2 folding.

Thanks for starting and Fold on!

Make sure to do an Update Projects in FAHMon to get the details of the core(s) your missing.. Also as stated, make sure to use -smp flag to get the SMP benefits and you should have 2-4 processes running (1 each core or 2 each core depending on WU)
Also, make sure the "Machine ID#" isnt the same for any client.
I suspect you installed the standard client and not the smp client? im basing this on the x86 part of the filename in the window, I couldnt be wrong though
