I need advice on two systems. Im running windows smp on both right now. On system 1 should I just have one instance of smp running with affinity to all cores or more than one copy running?
On system 2 should I lock my cpu client to one core and give the gpu client the other core since ati use so much cpu% for folding? Also should I be running smp or single core on system 2?

Systems:
1. [email protected] 3x 8800gt
2. [email protected] 4870 512mb

Note: Not gonna run VMWare till I do my formats next month.

For first rig(since your not running VMware), I would run 2 instances of SMP and the GPU client. You will need to set affinity up, as well as priority for the SMP and GPU clients sharing the same cores.

Second rig. One instance of SMP as well as the GPU client. You will need the priority here as well.
what priority should be set? gpu > = < smp?
GPU > SMP for maximum ppd.

and as gibby said I'd say 2 dual core instances of SMP on the quad, and one GPU per card (no SLi) and then same on the dual but one SMP client instead. and I'd also say look into Linux through VMware SMP clients for another slight ppd boost

One more question: I noticed my p4 system is only running 50%. I googled it and found no real answer on how to get it to 100% but running two instances. I know its doing this because of HT but wont running two instances just slow i down even more.

I will take a gamble here and say - yes it will.
