So i decided to try and make a thread about this, however i wasn't sure where to post it. So if a Mod doesn't like this here, perhaps they can move it accordingly.

So i am fed up with fake benchmarks popping up all over Youtube. Possibly elsewhere i just haven't looked. I searched on YouTube for 7900 xtx and found many channels that are "benchmarking" channels for hardware. They all have these fake 7900 xtx benchmarks against like a 4090/4080 etc.. I am fairly sure these popped up even with 4090's and whatever else was going to be released. So it seems to me these jerks are doing this for clicks and maybe some revenue? The problem is its causing obvious issues like misleading people and possibly making them choose a product that's not accurate.

Anyways i've tried reporting these videos, as fake/ misinformation. Apparently Youtube on cares about political misinformation i guess. Not sure anything can be done about this but i wanted to see what others thoughts are and maybe suggestions. Would be neat if there was a prominent youtuber tech persona who could maybe bring light to this stupidity.

Following channels i've identified and if anyone finds others i'd be glad to add to the list.

https://www.youtube.com/@BenchmarkComparison/videos
https://www.youtube.com/@Arcadepixel/videos
https://www.youtube.com/@MikeBenchmark
https://www.youtube.com/@graphic5829/videos

If i have added one by mistake ill remove it from list. This is a short list, as i didn't spend much time on this. If you have any to add let me know. In the end i guess nothing can be done, and maybe its just a small fish. It just bothers me to see fake stuff like this on a popular platform that more normies could be mislead.

I mean Forza is running on weird settings, jaggies everywhere and the game looks very undetailed.

Yeah most likely if they are faking hardware, they probably are not reliable for actual testing parameters or equal settings. They may even be just stealing someone elses footage/video and slapping an overlay or something i don't know. Seems to me a lot of work just to fake a benchmark.

Maybe instead of flagging all the crappy ones, we identify a set of reliable reviewers that users can trust and sticky that in the gaming or hardware sections?

There will always be more fake channels and you’ll have a hard time keeping up.

Using the first video from the first source as an example...

The channel claims to have access to pre-release hardware, which, less than two weeks before the 7900 series release is not an outlandish claim; AMD and AIBs would already have shipped reference cards to suppliers. The supposed benchmark itself also shows fairly plausible figures for clocks, power, temperature, and performance.

The video could easily have been faked. It's impossible to see actual performance on a 60 fps Youtube transcode and enough is known about these parts that it would be a trivial matter to pull highly plausible figures out of one's ass.

However, there is also a distinctly non-zero chance the video is real (the single most damning piece of evidence against it being real is that the clocks are static through the whole test). And if I can't prove it's not, you can sure as hell bet that no one at YouTube cares enough to try.

Most stuff like this will be fakes produced as pre-release clickbait, but it's uncertain enough that proving it will be very difficult. It's also not going to actually harm anyone (a gullible viewer swindling themselves out of the cost of a new video card is a far cry from someone overdosing on antiparasitics, for example), and still generates ad revenue for YouTube. So, they aren't going to have much of an incentive to take it down.

I saw one of the channels compare the same card in three different videos and all got different results for the same setup/games, like 90 vs 140fps between two videos.

Also many of the benchmarks channels test CPUs with graphics cards running at 100% full tilt and then show 1-2fps differences between budget and high-end cpus.

Yeah so, here we go... this is why i wanted to bring light to these fake ass benchmarks. Looks like youtubers are falling for it now. Either they are doing this for clicks, or they really are gullible...

I made a benchmark. 100% legit:

^ This is how I now see all of these side by side gaming comparisons.

Even if they are legit, no way to tell as the hardware hasn't been shown in the video, and it sems so easy to fake these videos just to get youtube views.
