Famitsu has just announced a new RE game exclusively for the Wii, a RE: UC continuation set around RE2, titled Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. We don't have much yet but a scan from the magazine, and that can be see here.

I heard of an RE for Wii, but really didn't believe it. Why make an RE Wii exclusive? Aren't most RE fans actual gamers? Any real gamer does not list the Wii as their system of choice, well, in my experiences anyway. I can already see another RE4/RE5 style game, except when in aiming mode you'll use the Wii remote like a light gun.

RE2 is long overdue a remake. but i wouldve thought more like the RE remake for gamecube rather than the wii time-crisis style one. still, interesting..

You can tell I pay attention to the Wii (sarcasm). RE0 the same one as GC mostly? I guess RE4 and RE0 would have some new features for Wii, but I personally wouldn't say Wii exclusive. I still to this day have yet to play Wii for more than 10 minutes ever. Can't stand the thing really. What was Chronicles all about? ***Edit*** another light gun type game it looks like. I'll pass as well.

This is thriller -- thriller morning! First revealed via Famitsu scans, Capcom has officially confirmed the existence of the new Wii Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles -- and confirmed a North American release at the same time! The Darkside Chronicles is based on the Resident Evil 2 timeline and stars Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield in an Umbrella Chronicles-style rail shooter with "a more in-depth co-op experience" and a new "Evade system." The Cavia-developed shooter is expected this winter.

In addition, Capcom is localizing the Wii ports of Resident Evil Zero (which Capcom's US branch previously declined at least twice) and the Resident Evil remake (which, as a port of a remake, is basically a zombie itself now) as a new "Resident Evil Classics" line for release this year. Both games feature new Wii Remote controls and will sell at a $29.99 price point, just like Nintendo's own ported Gamecube games!

Sad to think that the only Wii games to pique my interest in exactly a year (Brawl came out around this time last year, right?) are a port of a GC game, and a port of a GC remake of a PSX game. Sigh...
And that is what Nintendo does best now a days. Don't get me wrong, I love the first party Nintendo games but beyond that, vast majority are crap.
Porting GameCube games to a system that plays GameCube games?

The RE2 part sounds interesting, even though rail shooters are horrible for Resident Evil.

I would much rather like a damn RE2 Remake, but this may talk me into picking up a Wii.
exactly. all of nintendo's appeal are for franchises that were established decades ago. many on other branded platforms. yet they brag about revolution.

this is the only reason i will have to pay attention to the wii in the near future. the ports are very long overdue but the new RE2 game is something to keep an eye on.
