Why wouldn't it be safe? As long as you're using it for exhaust there should be no problem..
Honestly that's not really going to do much.

There's too much of a gap between the space from exhaust fan to fan. It isn't going to be doing much at all.

maybe take the cloth of the top of ure ps3? mine never gets even remotely hot, no where near the need for additional cooling but mine isn't covered in cloths,

You can try putting it closer but I don't even see the point in this. Even up close isn't going to do much. I don't see that fan even being high enough to do anything at all.

Removing the cloth and removing surrounding items would probably help more.

And why is the fan blowing towards the PS3?

It needs to be an exhaust fan, blowing away from in.

Blowing air into the PS3 when the PS3 has an exhaust fan is just making it worse.

Please just remove the fan because you don't know what you're doing.

You're covering something that needs ventilation with a towel, and then you're intaking air towards an exhaust fan. That's just pushing air nowhere.

Why do you still have the fan blowing towards the PS3?

The back of the PS3 has an exhaust fan. You're blowing air towards fan that is being exhausted.

Exhaust means air being exhausted, not pushed inward.

The PS3 is pushing hot air out, and you're blowing it back in.

I don't know how else to explain it to you. This is doing nothing but making it worse.

why would you put the cloth back on it? i know theres no vents on top but you would get hotter wrapped up in a blanket, best thing u can do to cool it is stand it up on its end IMO
IMO you should burn whatever is on top of it and use the fan to help, then burn the fan.
There's no point unless you OC'ed the thing. YES I know what the OP said, but it is superfluous

Please just remove the fan. It's not doing anything at all.

Putting cloth back on it makes it worse as well.

I honestly don't see the point in this at all. Unless you take the base off the fan and set it directly at the back of the console where air is exhausted and have it exhausting as well is the only way you could possibly somewhat help it.

The way you have it is doing nothing. How can you honestly think having it like that is helping at all?

How do you think the fan being there is doing any good at all? You want hot air being exhausted faster from the CONSOLE. Not having air just being pushed around once it's outside of the console.
you put it there to stop dust sitting ontop or to stop dust in the ps3?, just stand the thing on its end for best cooling soloution, having the 2 sides of the ps3 with the largest surface area uncovered(by blanket) and exposed to the air is the best way to cool it, what u are doing isnt helping it at all
