Where the Apple Store, maybe I'll visit the next time I'm there maybe the sales people won't be as clingy as the ones in the US and here.

I haven't been there myself yet unfortunately. It looks great.

The memory they will technically accept from their warehouses. Something about the modules and verified vendors. Silliness if you ask me. If you upgrade just keep the old memory for when you go in. Pop them back in and you will have no issues.

@iARDAs: You are fine to carry the computer or travel with it like GermanyChris said. The head will be parked when shutdown. That would be the biggest issue with moving it. Otherwise you are set.

In that case if I upgrade only my RAM am I going to be fine?

Which RAM should I buy for a 2014 Mac Mini any tips?

And yeah I will just carry it and be sure that I shut it down before unplugging it. Hoping to be perfectly fine but will still be careful.

Yes certainly be careful but you will be ok. I would steer you to Crucial. We use them here at work and they have a good track record. Look up the model of the Mac Mini in their configuration tool and you should be golden.

You can upgrade the HD if you want but it would be out of warranty then technically. It is a pain to change out. Have to move the Logic Board and all that good stuff.

I put Hyperx 1600 blues in my wife's (formally my) '11 13"..it gave it a geekbench boost but back in the real world it's just been dependable and lord knows it should have been for the amount I paid for it. That is the last time I'll be an early adopter of anything

I think I will not upgrade the RAM of the machine for the time being. I am waiting for the new Mac Mini to arrive and than I will grab that one. Meanwhile I will use this at stock.

Thanks though guys. If I change my mind, I know which RAM to purchase.

Also is there something similar to CTRL ALT DELETE in Mac Os X?

I had a system lock up because of Safari and I had to turn off the machine via the button. I couldn't force Safari to quit.

There's that, but it isn't a... what's it called... "Non-maskable key pattern?" It doesn't demand the OS's attention the way that ctrl + alt + delete does in windows.

And even then, it doesn't give you information about your processes. For that, you have to use Activity Monitor.

One of the worst purchase I ever made is the Apple Magic Mouse.

I hate having a touch pad tech for scroll wheel.

I will be getting a regular wireless mouse and will probably throw the Apple Magic Mouse into the sea.

Yea the magic mouse isn't very good I use the track pad or my track ball..

I've yet to be able to connect an off the self bluetooth mouse to the internal bluetooth on any Mac FYSA

That is interesting on the Bluetooth connecting. I would agree that I have had mixed results with the Magic Mouse. Would much rather us the trackpad or a ball as well.

The base model of 2014 is a 1.4 Dual Core i5 though. I remember mine being 2.5 Dual Core i5.

Is the new tech really better though being 1.4?

Or are you talking about higher level mac minis?

I have the 499 dollar one in mind.

EDIT : Actually time to be NOT cheap and go for the 699 model. 1 TB Harddisk and 8 GB ram sounds better.

The processor won't be much of and upgrade but the storage will be and TB2 is a big addition if you can use it .

*edit*

Unless you have TB accessories I don't know if I'd rush out and buy one though

Nope no TB accessories at all.

I just want something faster than the current Mac Mini I have. I mean I am fine with it but I would like a faster apple product. I really had hoped that new mac minis would double in performance.

Maybe I should just get 4GB more rams for my Mac Mini and make it 8GB. Would it make a difference?

Not if you don't use more than 4GB..

An 840 Evo would probably make the most difference. Don't discount the NGFF SSD's from Apple though.
