finally done with my latest build!

it's not the fastest kid on the block, but it's pretty good and suits my needs. didn't want to break the bank. the coolest thing is that it renewed my interest in building computers. last one i did was my old athlon xp rig, so it's definitely been a while! i think the first rig i built, way back in the day (about a decade ago), was an amd k6-2 rig @ something like 400MHz. no, i'm not old. shut up.

it took about 1 1/2 months to get my new rig to this point. only thing left to do is either change the faceplate of the dvd-r/w or paint it - the silver doesn't match the cm 590! i started by buying the mobo/cpu/ram and tossed 'em in my old case from my athlon xp rig (a mistake, btw - airflow in the case was totally inefficient for this cpu and it ran HOT). i used the dvd-r/w from my old rig & a couple sata drives i had lying around. about a week later, i bought the 9800gt. a week later, the ac freezer 7 pro. couple more weeks, the ac accelero s1. more weeks pass.... bought the cm 590 (awesome case btw - really lowered cpu/gpu temps). so there it is - it's pretty much done but who knows, maybe i'll get a nice quad core before long!

i'd also like to hear any suggestions on what i should do next with it - i was thinking sli but i get pretty good performance from my single 9800gt plus i'd have to replace the mobo.... so probably not.

looks good but it dont look like you are dual channeling the memory tho, or it might be the way the slots are but looks like you need to put the other stick in the blue slot.

oops you're right, i hadn't even noticed

guess i was kind of in a rush when i tossed the parts in my new case!

thanks for bringing it to my attention, +rep!

looks great!
i like how tidy you are

most people either have a rats nest or no visible cables

but you, are just very very organized, i like that, it looks nice

thanks! i tried to keep it neat, mainly so that there were no obstructions to airflow in the case - i wanted the best temperatures i could muster. cpu idles at 30C and load @ 43C... so i'm pleased with it

its pretty, i like that case, its simple and apparently can do some decent cable management. i dont think my cables are long enough to have a bottom-mounted PSU

im looking into a new case and i want to get my wires out of the way

nice job.

The centurion doesn't have amazing cable management (not unlike the 900) That 24-pin is a pain to route cleanly huh. I had to do the same thing and just not put it behind the mobo tray. Cpu power was a pain for me but I see you got it routed real nice!

I don't like the fact that you have a supermicro motherboard but hey...
The green makes it look almost like it was built during the 90's but oh well, it's not visible by your desk.

Congrats man.
