in my current system, im running memory at horrible timings i believe they are something like 5-5-5-12. i wanted to replace that with something with a lower cas latency or something, but im a noob at matching memory to my system. i have a p4 prescott 3.4 @ 3.8 and currently running 240-pin pc 5300. mobo is a GA-965P-DS3

anyone recommend good ram for this setup. keep in mind im saving for a conroe as well and was wondering what was still compatible for both.

Depends on your budget. If you have around $300 to spare, go for a 2GB G.Skill HZ kit, or if you only need 1 GB and can find a 1GB kit, get one of those. Either way, HZ is great. It's the one with the black heatspeaders They're amazing overclockers and can run at nice timings. They're also excellent combinations with a Conroe.

Yep, so if budget is no problem, the G.Skill HZ is your best bet
