As the rumors predicted, EA has announced that the next Medal of Honor game won't be set during WW2. The reboot brings us to modern times, more specifically Afghanistan. You'll play the role of a special forces operator presumably tracking down terrorists. EA says the game will arrive in Fall 2010 with DICE handling the multiplayer while EA LA will handle the single-player campaign:

The development team has been working closely with Tier 1 Operators from the US Special operations Community since the earliest stages of development to create the most authentic modern war experience. Set against the backdrop of a rugged and brutal landscape, Medal of Honor depicts modern military operations through the lens of a small band of fictional characters.
